James R. Toth, CEF

Over 40 years of experience in chemical and metallurgical processes, including all aspects of electroplating from direct, hands on management of a high volume plating operation, to process research & development, to management of an R&D Technical Center, I’ve been involved in all aspects of the industry. I’ve been passionate about chemistry all my life. Electroplating process management is my passion. I love to share what I’ve learned over the years by doing things in a wide variety of environments. I’ve been involved in the electronics, general metal finishing, and aerospace industries, along with working for a high volume Tier 1 supplier, and have experience with deposition of a wide range of single metal and multi-metal alloys to meet functional and appearance requirements.

Having been asked to participate on the AIAG Plating and Coating Work Groups, I worked to co-author the upgrades of the CQI-11 Special Process: Plating System Assessment, 2nd Edition, and the CQI-12 Special Process: Coating System Assessment 2nd Edition to realign these documents with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 QMS standards.

In the five years since starting Jim Toth Solutions, LLC, I have been involved in many aspects of plating, electroplating, electroless coating, anodizing and coating application in numerous industries. Clients have come from job shops to large OEM manufacturers and coaters. I’ve improved operations producing parts in the GMF side of the business, as well as companies involved in the aerospace and defense arena, automotive components, medical equipment, electrical components, and additional industries. I’ve conducted numerous CQI-11 and CQI-12 audits, and have helped companies prepare training materials for training of new and existing employees.
